Lifestyle changes are a natural cycle of life. At some point, we all come to the crossroads where our current lifestyle just doesn't seem to fit anymore. Maybe you’re an empty nester, retired or semi-retired. You may have lost your spouse/life partner. Your current home may simply be too large for you. Perhaps some of your friends and neighbours have sold their long-time, cherished home to move into a newer, more manageable residence. Making the decision to downsize isn’t easy, but if you change the perspective, it can be a liberating experience.

This month, Empowered Seniors Speakers Series host, Marion Goard is joined by Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist Irene Dzioba to share their expertise in helping seniors prepare for their next move. In this session, Downsizing Doesn't Have To Be Limiting - It's Liberating, you’ll be guided through the steps needed to determine when you are ready for a change, how to prepare yourself, your family and your home for downsizing, and how to take your future into consideration.

During this seminar, you’ll learn:

  • How to determine when the time is right
  • What you need to consider for now and for later
  • Who should be involved in the decision
  • Tips for a successful transition
  • What are the housing options
  • What to do with of your 'stuff' which is often the biggest hurdle for seniors
