Speaker Series continues in 2026 with a great line-up of presenters and topics! Get the answers to your most pressing questions at monthly seminars and panels.

Are you finding yourself continually looking for facts to get answers to your most pressing questions? The Empowered Seniors Speakers Series is a free community service offered to seniors and their families.

Every month, you can attend a seminar or a panel where you’ll gain valuable and honest information regarding topics that are important to senior living and retired people. You’ll leave each event with the ability to make informed decisions, and you’ll meet experts who can provide reliable and current information.

The seminars and expert panels are a community service offered AT NO COST to seniors and their families.

✔ Plus our annual Living Well Expo on April 8, with 30+ local organizations

All sessions are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month and run from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM (doors open at 1:00 PM).

Parking
There is a $5 fee for parking at the Art Gallery on the afternoons of each of our sessions. When you park in the parking lot on the north side of the building, there's no need to purchase parking tickets at the machine. Instead, simply head inside where you'll be asked to pay your $5 at the reception desk by the north doors of the Art Gallery. There will be no need to return to your car to place a parking pass on your windshield and your car will not be ticketed.

Decluttering and Downsizing – Why, When and Where

Decluttering can feel overwhelming, especially when years of belongings have accumulated in one home. But downsizing your belongings doesn’t necessarily mean you’re preparing to move. In fact, starting before you need to can make the process much easier and help prevent it from becoming someone else’s responsibility later.

This month’s Empowered Seniors Speaker Series features Judy Rickey of Clutter Relief Services, who has spent the past 16 years helping people declutter and organize their homes. Through her work, Judy has seen firsthand how having too much clutter can affect our physical, mental and emotional well-being, as well as how procrastinating can turn decluttering into a much more stressful task when it suddenly needs to be done.

Judy will share practical ways to begin your decluttering journey, ideas for where unwanted belongings can go, and how to approach the often-emotional process of letting things go. She’ll also discuss when an online auction may be worth considering when moving or clearing an estate, and when it may be time to ask for help and support.

You’ll leave with practical ideas and a clearer sense of where to begin, whether you’re thinking about downsizing in the future or simply know it’s time to start working through the belongings you no longer use or love.
