Senior Housing Open House Event Information

Marion Goard Senior Event - May 9th 2020

Event Overview

***EVENT IS POSTPONED TO OCTOBER 3, 2020***

Wondering about the future and the best place for you to live?  Are you overwhelmed just thinking about it?  Don't know where to start?

As we age there will come a time when the question arises – “Should I stay in my current home or is it time to move?” The truth is it’s a very personal decision and what’s right for one person or family is rarely right for someone else. For many people, thinking about moving can be overwhelming.  For seniors it can be that much more so.  Too often the end result is simply avoiding the matter until a crisis arises.

My FREE - and fun! - community event is perfect way for seniors and their families to learn about a variety of later-in-life housing options including local retirement residences, life leases, HomeShare, Sell 'n STAY and others as well as various support services that assist seniors. More than 25 local representatives will be on hand ready to chat with you about housing options, how to make a move easier, what to do with your 'stuff' plus where to source supports whether for health care, meal preparation or daily living.  Learn about services that help seniors age in place plus how to grow and protect your wealth.

As a Pivotal Master Accredited Senior Agent (one of only two in the Hamilton-Burlington-Oakville area) my goal is to help seniors make decisions about their accommodations by choice rather than let circumstance prevail and to help seniors and their families understand what their options really are. The good news is that you can Lean on Me. Together we'll map out your retirement housing plan that's just right for you.

*** New in 2020 - panel discussions with senior focused professionals.  Could you be heading for crisis without knowing it?  Are those who you've identified as Powers of Attorney or Executors up to date on what their responsibilities will be? Learn how to avoid mistakes and protect yourself, your family, your beneficiaries and your estate trustees.

Stop by anytime on Saturday October 3, 2019 between 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m at the Holiday Inn Burlington Hotel & Conference Centre to have all your Seniors housing questions answered.  We'd love to see you there!

This FREE Seniors Housing Options Expo is being hosted in partnership with Amal Helbah-Dawson (Financial Planner, Investment and Retirement Planning, RBC Royal Bank) and Christine Brunsden (Trust and Estate Practitioner/Specialist Trust Institute,  Trusted Legacy)

Are you wondering:

Whether all retirement residences are the same?  What makes them different?

What other downsizing options might be suitable for you?

What you need to know about condo living?

Where you can get help if you'd like to stay where you are yet know you need some help to do so.

What it costs to live in a retirement home?

Whether retirements homes are all 'All Inclusive' or are 'A-la-carte' options available?

If there's a way to arrange a short stay to see if you like a particular retirement home?

Who can help you figure out what to do with all your possessions that you've acquired over the years?

If any sort of health care is available in a retirement home or whether a Long Term Care Home is really what you need?

How to determine whether you'll have enough funds to last?

What the process is to secure a room/suite in a retirement home? How soon can you move in?

About a parent that needs some assistance with daily living and what the options are?

What exactly is a reverse mortgage?

Whether staying in your own home and aging in place is a viable option and who can help with that?

How you find out about rental suites?

Whether there are programs or funding available to help modify your current home to make it safe for you?

What Home Share is all about.

Then there's Co-Housing.  This is getting very confusing.  Who can talk to me about this?

Is there a way to access the equity you've built up in your home and use it to help you age in place?

This event is definitely for you!
